Structure:

Distribution Transformers with Expansion Tank are designed to be open to the atmosphere and do not require any pressure adjustment. Only the level adjustment of the insulation oil is sufficient. The expansion tank tolerates the expansion of the insulation oil by expelling the air gap inside it to the atmosphere and withdrawing it. This tank is designed according to the maximum expansion rate of the insulation oil and the level is adjusted according to this expansion amount during filling. Air exchange is carried out with a system that protects against humidity; an air dryer is used that removes humidity and is replaced when it becomes humid.

Advantages:

> No dangerous pressure will ever form inside the transformer. Therefore, there will be no pressure problems in overload.
> Deformation in the metal will be less since there is no expansion.
> It has a more suitable structure for on-site maintenance/repair.

The Most Important Disadvantage:

It has elements and components that require periodic control, testing, replacement and maintenance.
